Classroom Birthday Gift FREEBIE

Hey all!

Here comes another freebie! I'm sharing with you what I give my kiddos for their birthday!
I just print out these "balloons" and attach them to a birthday pencil that I got from the local teacher store. This gift is cheap and easy!
I grabbed these pencils from the local teacher store. A pack of 20 were 3.99 or so!

Print on colored paper/cardstock...
or on white paper/cardstock!

I add all of the kiddos names and their birthdates on the back at the beginning of the year! It saves me so much time to have them ready!

I hope you enjoy this tiny little freebie! You can grab it by clicking {HERE} or any of the pictures above!

Class Picture Coming Soon FREEBIE

Hey there friends!

I hope your summer was awesome and that you are well rested! I go back soon (less than a week) but I'm so ready for my new little group. I currently have 23 kiddos on my roster and I'm hoping it stays that way!

I've been busy setting up my classroom and I finally was able to put up my class pictures from past years! I switched schools two years ago and I didn't put them up in my new classroom.

I love posting past class pictures because kiddos love seeing their picture posted and they love looking at pictures of past students. They also giggle when they see that I look a bit different, too.

Anyways, I created this little sign to post near the class pictures for my new class that is coming in. I can't wait for them and their parents to see that there is a "coming soon" sign for them! This will show parents how excited I am to be their child's teacher. I strongly believe in having a strong classroom community and what a better way to start!?

This is just one of the versions that I made!
Here is my class picture wall! I think I may rearrange the frames and put the "coming soon" sign in a frame, as well!
I hope you enjoy this freebie! Click on any of the pictures above or click {HERE} to head to my TpT store and grab it for free!

MindWare Games...Qwirkle!

Hello there! I'm here today with a review of the MindWare game, Qwirkle!
MindWare is a company that sells a TON of games, puzzles, brainteasers, arts and crafts, mazes, and more. I love that they have a variety of games/activities for ALL ages.
*MindWare sent me this game for a review. This review is based strictly on my opinion. No other type of compensation was received. All ideas and opinions are my own.*
Qwirkle is a fun, engaging game! You get a box full of wooden tiles, a bag, and the instructions for the game. You can play this game with 2-4 players-ages 6 and up! I think this game would be perfect starting with end of the year kinders. My first graders used it and they LOVED it!

Straight from the site...Mix, match, score and win! Qwirkle is a must-have for your next family game night. MindWare's best seller is a simple game of matching colors and shapes that requires tactical maneuvers, quick-thinking and a well-planned strategy. Players of this addictive game score points by building rows and columns of brightly-colored tiles that are either all the same color or all the same shape, without creating duplicates. Look for opportunities to score big by placing a tile that touches multiple pieces with matching attributes; create a line of all six in a row, and you score a "Qwirkle". The player with the most points when the tiles run out wins! Qwirkle combines the game play of Dominoes and Scrabble and is the perfect combination of skill and chance! This easy-to-learn, yet challenging game for children and adults will have all three generations on the edge of their seat and excited to play again!
My first graders played this game during fun time Friday and had a blast! Only thing I need is another 3-4 sets so all of my students can play at the same time! It was perfect to review shapes, colors, counting, and teamwork! My daughter also played it with her friends and they also enjoyed it! I love when a game can be easily used with multiple age groups (my daughter is in 4th grade!).
I'm also in love with MindWare's quick shipping! The game came in perfect condition and my kiddos were so excited to play it! Now, they keep asking when they'll get to play Qwirkle next!

Oriental Trading Wishlist and Goodies!

Hey there, friends!! I hope your August has gone well! I've been working hard in my classroom {classroom reveal coming soon} and I just finished my first week of school! WOW! I always forget how little first graders are at the beginning of the year! EXHAUSTING! HAHA

Well, today I will share some Oriental Trading goodies that I just received and the NEW wishlist feature that the site offers!!
I'll start with the goodies because let's be real, that's the funnest part!! I was a bit excited to get this amazing box! One thing that I was surprised with was the SUPER fast shipping! I got a pack of personalized pencils {pictures below} and my whole order was still delivered so fast! LOVE THAT!
The first thing I ordered was the School Treasure Box. The thing that stood out for me was that it was already pre-filled!! It comes with all of the goodies inside! I added some things to mine because I emptied out my old treasure box into it :)

I love how bright and happy it is! It does require some assembly but I was able to "put it together" very easily! There is also a spot for your name at the top!
Here are some things that are included in the treasure box: notepads, erasers, pencils, stress balls (YEEESSSS!!), bouncy balls, whistles, pencil sharpeners, sticky hands, stickers and so much more!
I love this box sooo much! If I would've bought all of these things separately at a "party" store... it would've cost so much more than 20 bucks!
Now, let's talk about these <3 DICE <3
These foam dice will be perfect for math this year. Students will be able to use them during small groups and during independent math games! They're a steal for only 4 bucks per dozen! I should've gotten a couple of more packs!! The small ones were from the treasure box but I took them out so we could use them during math ;) These are a teacher's favorite because they don't make as much noise as regular dice! Can I get an "oh yeah!"?
Another favorite are these no name clothespins! They come with a big, thick magnet on the back so they can be placed on your magnetic whiteboard or metal cabinet! I love how they're already painted and the magnet isn't flimsy! They are also SUPER affordable! You get 24 clothespins for less than 6 bucks! I don't think I will ever have to hang 24 NO NAME papers {hopefully} so I'm giving 6 to each of my teammates! WIN-WIN!

Here they are in action!! I already had to use them yesterday! HAHA They are so handy!
I also got some fun notepads! The Christmas tree ones were on clearance (so cheap) so I thought they'd be cute as part of my students' gifts in December! The pixelated notepads are going to be a hit in the treasure box because they look Minecraft inspired!

These sand timers are going to be perfect for a multitude of things in my classroom! I'm thinking we will use these during math games, small groups, and even independently during math and reading!
I love that they are clearly labeled too!
These mini erasers are SO cute! There are 500 included in this pack but I clearly thought they would fit in a small bucket but that didn't happen! HAHA I could easily split them between two buckets! I'm set for the year. I'm going to use these as rewards for learning sight words! I may also use them as math manipulatives!
I saved the best for last! <3
PERSONALIZED PENCILS! These are for my daughter! I thought she would love to have personalized pencils for 4th grade. I was impressed with the fast shipping and the quality of the pencils! They were SO easy to sharpen!
Now off to the WishList part of the Oriental Trading site!
I need to add more! I'd love to add the following pillows for an alternative seating option in my classroom library!
They have them in 4 different colors! NEEED! <3
The awesome thing about the Oriental Trading Wishlist feature is that you can share the link to your wishlist with anyone! Click {HERE} to see my wishlist! I'm planning on sharing my wishlist with my parents in my newsletter!
Click {HERE} to make your own wishlist! It will be so easy to share with parents or even PTSA or administration! You can put your link in your newsletters, class blogs, or class social media! I know I have some parents that support our classroom and would LOVE to buy things that we are going to use!
Do you want to receive 10 dollars off your order and FREE shipping with your order of $49 or more? Email me at sweettimesinfirst@gmail.com and I will send you my referral code!
I hope you find something AWESOME to add to your wishlist! Comment and let me know your favorite Oriental Trading items!
*Disclaimer: I was sent the items above! All opinions though are completely honest and my own!

My Erin Condren Teacher Planner

Hey all! My summer is half way done (insert crying emoji here) but I'm sooo excited about my new Erin Condren Teacher Planner that came in a couple of weeks ago. This post is going to tell you everything about it, my thoughts, and show you lots of pictures!
I was SO excited to order one of these babies. This is actually my second one. I had purchased a Teacher Planner a few years ago. I used it and it was okay...okay wasn't cutting it for me since they are pretty pricey! That is one thing that I noticed...EC raised their prices since the last time I ordered. The Teacher Planners were $50 but they are now $55. I decided to give them another try and really told myself that I would use it to its full potential...so here I am!
$55 is a lot for a planner. I get it but I had just finished the school year and decided to splurge and give myself a little gift for ending the school year alive! HAHA I had a hard time picking my cover but once I saw stripes...I fell in LOVEEE. I love stripes... okay, not love but I'm obsessed! I'm almost always wearing stripes...especially black and white! My planner actually inspired my newly designed blog!

So I ordered my planner using a referral code from someone that commented on their Facebook page...she got a $10 credit and so did I...win/win! Click Here for my referral code, feel free to check them out! The $10 credit made me feel better about my purchase! HAHA
Can you tell that I'm excited about this beautiful blue box!? One thing I do LOVE about EC (Erin Condren) is their presentation. The box is beautiful and so is the inside of the package!
I mean, check out the gold tissue paper! I'm in loooove! EC also sends a sticker sample book, some referral cards, stickers, and other little things. Everything is printed on such high quality paper/materials. I love the "enjoy" sticker holding it all together!
The package is truly beautiful! Once I took off the gold tissue, I noticed that my planner was wrapped in bubble wrap for extra protection.
Once I opened it up and saw my planner, I was in AWEEE! It was beautiful! I changed the colors of the planner stripes to black and white. I think the default was blue and white but you can customize them to whatever colors you would like! I really like the big pink heart in the middle because who doesn't love hearts!? I got it with my monogram...one thing I wish I could change is to get the monogram in capital letters. I could've requested this change but I honestly thought I would love the lowercase...fail. The lowercase look weird to me but eh, I'll live with it.
Obviously, I'm still happy with it! HA! Now, to check out the inside! The inside cover has a page that can be used with a dry erase or wet erase marker. It can be a to-list or even a list of upcoming important events. This part of the planner is new...my old one did not have this.

The cover is very sturdy and looks like it will last all year. My old Teacher Planner's cover felt very similar and it did last all year. The lamination did not bend or peel at all.

The first title page looks very old school to me. The apples are not my favorite. I do wish EC would let us customize the graphics/colors of the inside. On the back of the title page, there's a quote. I love that it's on black and it looks so nice! The next page is an "All About Me" page where you can add info. about yourself, usernames/passwords, and a spot to write in some web resources. I looove this because I always write websites down and then lose the stickies! HAHA This is going to help me be a little bit more organized!
The next two pages are for Classroom Events/Volunteers and Helpful Hints for the Substitute. I love the space to keep your volunteers' contact information handy. I also love the special events and field trips spot to write in. This will be perfect if you like to plan ahead with your team so you have them all written down. Now, I don't really see myself using the "Helpful Hints for the Sub" page. I'm very Type A about who touches my stuff and I will probably not leave my 50 dollar planner to a sub! HAHA There's a cute little owl there...again, not my favorite clip art...

Then, there is a page with Holidays and dates to remember... I'm not the biggest fan of this page for 2 reasons... Number 1: It has people's birthdays on there that I've never heard before...when I look at them closely, I see that they are authors {I THINK}... not super relevant in my Teacher Planner...Number 2: The dates aren't exact. It has Hanukkah in 2 places (both November and December) I know that some Holidays, the actual date changes but I'd rather have the exact date or no date at all!

There are birthday pages! I do love this section so I can easily see any student or important people's birthdays! <3
There is an Absentee Log...not a fan of this page just because I don't keep track of my student's absenses, my online gradebook does that! I may use this page for something else though!
There are a few graphing pages that you can use for whatever you'd like! It has some ideas at the top...

There is a yearly spread so you can plan your year!

Now, look at these tabs!! They are awesome! Nice and sturdy and I love the colors and how they are clearly labeled! These tabs are a HUGE plus! here is a tab for dates, absent, graph, year plan, every month, lessons, and for your checklists. The planner is organized a bit different than my old one. This planner has all of the month spreads together and then the lessons separately. I don't know how I feel about that now but I will let you know once I start using it.

There is also a monthly spread for all of the months! Perfect for important dates/meetings/due dates!

Here are the planning pages. Now, the squares aren't the biggest but I do love the colors! I'm going to use my planner to map out what I want to teach and then input my complete lesson plans into Planbook.com {another blog post coming up!} So, I don't need that much space!
That's my Erin Condren Planner! If you'd like to check them out, I'd love for you to use my referral link: https://www.erincondren.com/referral/invite/sandramatadamas1023 You will get 10 BUCKS OFF!! WINNNN!!!
